Lizzo, 38, came out to respond to her critics just as her fifth album, "Bitch," sinks on the charts. According to Hits Double Daily projections, it will not even enter the Billboard 200 top 20.

In an interview with the LA Times, the singer claimed that the backlash against her "is fatphobic, racist, and sexist" and that she exists "outside the parameters" society expects. She did not stop there: she compared herself to Dolly Parton, Whitney Houston, and Mariah Carey—the latter with 19 number ones on the Hot 100, something Lizzo has not achieved even once in recent years.

Her last four singles, including one with Sexyy Red, failed to chart anywhere. Even so, she insists that she no longer "needs" a hit because, in her own words, she has already proven what she could achieve.
