South African superstar Tyla has earned a spot on Barack Obama's much-anticipated 2026 summer playlist, with the former US president selecting her single 'She Did It Again' featuring Zara Larsson.
Obama shared the eclectic list of nearly 50 songs on Thursday, describing it as the music he had been enjoying over the summer.
Tyla is not the continent's only presence on the list, which also features artists of African heritage such as Ethiopian-American singer Kelela, with 'Idea 1', and British-Ghanaian star RAYE, with 'Where Is My Husband!'
Their tracks sit within a genre-spanning mix that includes Drake, SZA, Doechii, Noah Kahan, Coldplay and classics from the Beatles and David Bowie.
It is not the first time Tyla has caught Obama's ear, having appeared on his 2024 playlist with her global hit 'Jump'.
The nod marks another milestone in Tyla's meteoric rise, cementing her place as one of Africa's biggest global music exports.
